We awoke early – why do we wake up naturally at the time when the UK is going to bed? It’s jet lag gone haywire. We should be sleeping in on a morning, instead of which we awake early and can’t get back to sleep.
We had a very early breakfast and set off for the outdoor pool area where we enjoyed a spell of swimming and lying around generally. Lunch was pizza again and, in spite of our determination that we would not have a sleep during the day today, we slept for a lot of the afternoon!
This evening saw the captain’s Welcome Reception with the Princess champagne waterfall in the Atrium. We bumped into our table companions from the open seating evening. We each managed to get a couple of free glasses of bubbly – but couldn’t get anywhere near Chris’s level of achievement – although that was at a loyalty event! It was also the first formal evening and we were well complimented on our appearance. Before we had left the UK, Princess had emailed us to say that there would be three formal evenings on this two-week cruise and we packed accordingly. Once on board, it became clear that there would be only two plus a tropical evening and a cowboy themed evening. Not good when weight was such an issue for us on a 14-night cruise.
After dinner we all met up by chance again in the Wheelhouse Bar, a rather nice lounge bar reminiscent of Anderson’s Bar on Aurora where there is a band playing and a dance floor to enjoy – but not tonight. We talked about Australia and where were the best places to stay – one of the ladies said “Barcelona” and remarked how lucky we were to be in Europe as there was so much to see and do! The two of them then proceeded to argue as to where the best places to visit in Oz were, so we have quite a list to attack one day. I said we hope to see some Ashes cricket in Oz one day and they said they’d prefer not to talk about cricket at the moment! Another day was done.
