About 10 minutes later than scheduled we finally landed in Japan. Getting off the plane was fairly painless considering how many people were on board and we were greeted by bowing staff at the top of the air bridge walkway! Immigration was depressingly familiar – just like trying to get into the US.
We had already filled in a form each on the plane like the old US green card plus a separate customs declaration and then it was a case of join a queue which the Border Agency at Heathrow would be proud of! Finally we were dealt with by one of the few immigration officers not wearing a face mask, had our fingerprints and a photo taken and we were in!
